Trying to choose the best running shoes is like trying to choose
the best song ever made. Invariably, different people are going
to have different opinions because all feet are subtly unique.
The sprinter prefers one kind of shoe, while the middle distance
runner may prefer a different kind. It is also likely that a marathon
runner would recommend a completely different shoe.
While it is hard to say which style of shoe is best, it is somewhat
easier to say which shoemakers tend to make the best kinds of
running shoes. These makers are:
• Nike - Nike got its start making running shoes and although
the company has evolved to make many different kinds of sport
shoes, it still places a lot of importance on the quality of running
shoes produced each year.
• New Balance - New Balance is not one of those flashy shoe
companies like Nike or Reebok, but when it comes to everyday runners,
you can find a lot of New Balance shoes. Usually New Balance shoes
are best for those with a wider foot who are running on treadmills
or are taking leisurely runs on a trail or along the sidewalk.
• Asics - Asics running shoes are designed for all kinds
of runners, but they seem to gear more of their energy toward
creating strong sprinting running shoes. Like New Balance shoes,
Asics shoes may not be quite as popular, but that is more because
of a lack of marketing and not because of the quality of the shoe
itself.
There are many other companies who make shoes for all types of
runners. You may be wise to start off with looking into buying
shoes from one of these companies, but you also may find that
the best running shoes in your opinion are made by a completely
different company. The only way to tell is to put the shoes on
and try running in them.
