While
there are no running shoes for big women marketed directly toward that
demographic, larger women who run should follow some guidelines when
purchasing shoes. Find a pair of shoes that has plenty of support. Also,
if you are conscious about your body image look for a shoe that is stylish
so that you are confident when you run.
Running shoes for big women should be replaced more often than running
shoes for people with smaller builds. People who weigh more than the
average runner will place more stress on the shoe per step and so the
shoe will wear out more quickly. A general rule of thumb is that running
shoes should be replaced every six months; you may want to replace yours
every four to five months.
Replacing shoes at that rate may make buying running shoes for big
women seem expensive. However, the health benefits far outweigh any
costs. The best part is if you keep up a regular running routine --
or even just are now walking consistently -- you will lose weight, feel
better about yourself and not have to replace the shoes as often!
