Waterproof running shoes

Waterproof running shoesWhen you're shopping for running shoes, consider what type of environment you will exercise in. If you work out in wet weather, then look into waterproof running shoes. You will be more comfortable and have a better workout if your feet are dry.
Many runners-both beginning and advanced-spend a lot of time looking for the perfect running shoes. They shop for comfort, appearance, and fit, but often fail to make sure they are purchasing waterproof running shoes. Investing in quality waterproof shoes will keep you feeling good in very wet conditions.
Serious runners will benefit most from having waterproof running shoes because it allows them to run and train on more days. In addition, shoes that keep out water are a boon to triathletes who run in all conditions. Athletes who run on slushy or wet trails during the winter will also benefit from wearing waterproof gear.
When you shop for waterproof running shoes look for breathing membrane technology (which allows for sweat to escape but does not let water in) and mesh uppers. Many high quality running shoes have a Gore-Tex liner and toe and heel caps that protect your feet.
Waterproof running shoes are particularly important for athletes who want to train year-round if cold weather, slush, and snow are involved. These runners should also look at a pair of light gaiters to combine with their shoes. The gators prevent snow and slush from entering the top of low-cut running shoes.
Good socks will also help runners who endure wet conditions. A lighter sock is best for warm weather, but for cold weather running look for a three-quarter sock made of wool.
Wool socks retail for approximately $15-$20. A good pair of Gore-Tex gators sells for approximately $30-$45. Waterproof running shoes will of course be the most expensive part of your gear for keeping your feet dry. They can cost from $100-$150.
You can purchase waterproof running shoes online or at a retail store. The advantage of shopping at a retail store is that you can try on the shoe before you take it home. Make sure you walk around the store and feel free to try if you jogging steps if there is enough space. Most stores will allow you to return the shoe after you buy it as long as you do not wear it outside. Shopping online has its advantages as well. While you cannot try on the shoe before you buy it, online stores such as Zappos.com are becoming more popular because they are providing increasingly liberal return policies. In addition, because they stock their shoes in such a large warehouse they are able to carry more styles and sizes and can keep prices down because of low overhead.
If you are shopping for waterproof running shoes consider buying from an outdoor shop or a running store. At an outdoor shop you will be able to find running shoes, socks and waterproof gators in one location. At a running store you will also find items like lightweight T-shirts and summer jackets.
